About 45lbs of too much stuff. This was my first thru-hike and my gear showed that. My base-weight was 30lbs
When I got home after finishing the AT I deleted my gear list, kind of regret it now. I started and finished with an entirely different set of gear. From clothing, pack, shelter, boots, etc I spent well over a thousand bucks on new gear. I wish I knew back then what I know now about gear.
I remember before summiting Katahdin we dumped a ton of gear to make it lighter and easier on the way up. Weighing my pack with 2L of water and 6 energy bars it still weighed 25lbs.
